The Incident at Dyatlov Pass
Nine ski-hikers died unexpectedly in the mountains of what is now Russia on the first night of February 1959. The party had set up camp on a slope the night of the tragedy, eaten dinner, and prepared for sleep but something went horribly wrong, and the group never returned. The hikers’ abandoned tent, which had been torn apart from the inside, was discovered on February 26. Footprints left by the group around the spot, some in socks, some in a single shoe, and others barefoot, all of which proceeded to the edge of a neighbouring wood. The first two victims were discovered there, shoeless and barely wearing underpants.
Jack the Ripper
We all know about the notorious serial killer Jack the Ripper, throughout the decade the story of this serial killer is being told all over the world. But what remains as a mystery is that we never know who is Jack the Ripper? The only thing that we know is in 1888, Jack the Ripper mutilated the bodies of at least five women in London. A series of letters purporting to be from Jack the Ripper was sent to police, mocking their efforts to discover him. (Whether any of them were written by Jack the Ripper is a point of contention among academics.) These letters gave rise to the moniker “Jack the Ripper.” Needless to say, the Ripper was never located, and scores of persons have been suggested as plausible suspects throughout the years. A recent book claimed that a lady called Lizzie Williams was the Jack the Ripper, but other Ripper specialists disagreed. It remains doubtful that the Ripper’s actual identity will ever be known for certain.
A CIA operative with nausea, headache, and dizziness visited the American Embassy’s health office in Havana in December 2016. Two other CIA officers reported identical symptoms a few days later. By late 2018, 26 Americans and 13 Canadians have reported nausea, hearing loss, vertigo, nosebleeds, and difficulty focusing. In every case, sufferers said that a weird noise they heard in their houses or hotel rooms prompted their symptoms. The noise was described as high-pitched by one witness. “A laser of sound, aiming into their bedroom,” said another. Some claimed the sounds were more akin to stones rolling over the floor. Up until these days, no one has a single clue on what causes the disease or what even is the disease that has happened to these people.
The disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa
On July 30, 1975, the teamster union leader notorious for his participation in organized crime vanished in Oakland County, Michigan, and is now considered dead. The identity of his killer(s) and the whereabouts of his body are still unknown. Police and forensic anthropologists have combed through a number of locations in Detroit and Oakland County but have come up empty-handed. Hoffa’s remains were said to be buried beneath Giants Stadium in New Jersey, according to one popular idea. This hypothesis, however, has been discredited. Throughout years of investigation and searching, it looks that Hoffa’s remains will never be discovered.
Haunted ship the Mary Celeste
The “Mary Celeste,” a British-American ship, was discovered empty and floating in the Atlantic on December 4, 1872. Except for a lifeboat, which looked to have been boarded in an orderly manner, it was discovered to be seaworthy and with all of its cargo intact. But why is that? Because no one on board was ever heard from again, we may never know. The Mary Celeste set sail from New York in November 1872, heading for Genoa, Italy. Captain Benjamin Briggs and seven crew members were on board, including Briggs’ wife and their two-year-old daughter. Onboard, there were enough supplies for six months, as well as luxuries like a sewing machine and an upright piano.
Even with tons of movies that have been released about Area 51, the world still has no exact clue of how, what and why the existence of this place. Area 51 is a U.S. military station in southern Nevada whose existence remained unknown until 2013 when the CIA was forced to reply to a Freedom of Information Act request from 2005. Area 51 appears to facilitate the creation and testing of experimental aircraft and weaponry, based on historical data. Public satellite pictures, such as those found on Google Maps, offer no information. Even individuals with security clearance to visit Area 51 are flown there by an airline named “Janet,” whose planes are unmarked and whose windows are shrouded when they land.
