Last week I was lucky enough to get my hands on a great collection of infographics that covered just about every topic known to man (well – that may be a BIT of an exaggeration!).
Anyway, a few of these impressive image-based articles were a perfect fit for this site, like the one I am showcasing here today – the history of the solar system.
How Was The Solar System Formed?
Now, I love the humor behind the guys that put this infographic together, but unfortunately, some of the text boxes are probably a bit small for ‘older’ eyes!
Apologies if this is the case – simply use the magnifying tool on your selected browser!
Alternatively, you can simply click on the image above and it will open in a separate browser, with a magnifying tool and it’s original dimensions!
The Solar System
So, what is our solar system? What is it made up of?
Simply put – our solar system is constructed of the sun and everything that travels around it. It’s shape is termed as elliptical – which I’m reliably informed is a sort of egg shape.
Our solar system is always in motion and the sun sits directly in the middle of it (it’s the largest object in the system!)
Eight known planets and their moons, along with comets, asteroids, and other space objects orbit the Sun.
Many experts, researchers and astronomers believe that our solar system is well over 4 billion years old.
I could go on about this subject all day long (I’m a geek after all!) but the infographic image above will do a much better job than I ever could on the subject.
Now, I have no idea who put this image together originally but I guess it’s pretty sound to share around the internet….so please feel free to hit up those social share buttons on the left side of your screen! 🙂
If you have any thoughts or opinions on the history of the solar system, please leave them in the comment section below.
