The Mystery of The Grand Paradi Towers

The Mystery of The Grand Paradi Towers

This article will be taking a look at the mystery surrounding the suicides linked to one of the most desirable locations to call home in Mumbai, India – The Grand Paradi Towers.

What strange force is behind these deaths, and the disturbing events that usually follow?

Let’s take a closer look…

The Suicide Towers

The Grand Paradi Towers were constructed in 1975 and then opened for business a year later. It was dubbed as being ‘The most desired addresses in Mumbai’.

A lot of rich and successful families still live in the buildings, but unfortunately, the elite location is marred by a rather disturbing series of events…

People keep on committing suicide there!

Incidents include a girl who jumped to her death after her family would not accept her (poor) boyfriend, a maid who jumped to her death due to an unhappy work life and a employee of a brewery company also jumped to his death (for unknown reasons!).

These are just the tip of the iceberg – there have been many more suicides from the location’s balconies…

The Dalal Family

On June the 14th, 1998, Vasadeo and Tara Dalal’s bodies were found smashed up at the foot of The Grand Paradi Towers.

They had left a suicide note that pointed to their son and daughter-in-law harassing and abusing them. Apparently they had had enough of this treatment and decided to end it all.

The son and daughter-in-law in question, were put up on charges of abetment to suicide.

The Suicide Ledge

This trial went on for seven years, until 2005. However on the day of the verdict, the accused, who had not missed a day of the trial, were not present.

The son and daughter-in-law (Balkrishna and  Sonal) were so terrified about going to prison…they jumped from the same balcony as their elders had used.

For some reason, their daughter (aged 19) also decided to jump with them…

Three generations of the Dalal family all perished from the same balcony, within a seven year period.

Paranormal Activity

Many locals believe that there is a paranormal force at work in The Grand Paradi Towers – something is MAKING these people jump to their deaths…

There have been numerous reports involving vivid visions of people appearing and disappearing in the building’s corridors. Unexplained voices and sounds are also heard.

Visitors to the building often complain about a dark and foreboding feeling pressing down on them, when they are on the eighth floor of the ‘B’ wing.

Authorities eventually sanctioned a series of prayer rituals to tackle the ‘forces’ inside the Towers. These psychic sessions seemed to do the trick, and most of the paranormal activity ceased at once.

However, nobody has ever dared to move into the Dalal’s abandoned apartment.

The Tower of Silence

Many paranormal experts believe that the Parsi Zoroastrian’s Tower of Silence, found in the forest behind the Towers, is the force behind these unnatural suicides.

This location was used for dead bodies to be devoured by scavenger birds – the Zoroastrian religion thought that the bodies of the dead were unclean, therefore demons could easily enter them.

The Tower of Silence

Simply put – they wanted to get rid of their dead as soon as possible!

It has been suggested that it is the close proximity of this ancient location could well be the driving force behind the paranormal happenings at the The Grand Paradi Towers.

  1. Reading of the suicides in the same place by many different individuals does make a person wonder why? I wonder if some of it boils down to the power of suggestion. Much like when people learn about a great place to visit and propose to their spouse (not meaning to use a wedding example, with a suicide example, LOL) and that creates the hot spot for those getting engaged to all want to travel to. Not saying it is, because I am by no means an expert on this topic, only throwing out a possibility.

As for any “paranormal happening” I have no thought into that.  I found your reportings interesting and informative though.

    1. Hi Todd, and thank you for sharing your opinions on the subject with us!

The power of suggestion certainly could be at play here, and it’s a good shout really.

  2. Just the site I have been looking for but could never find. I am very interested in any UFO and alien related reports. I am always searching for documentaries that me and husband can watch when the kids have gone to bed lol. But to find stories of unexplained mysteries, films and recommended books under one roof.

    Love it.

I’ll definitely be back to seek new documentaries and reports from you in the future!

    1. Cool – glad this is the sort of thing you’ve been looking for! 🙂

Hope to chat with you again at some point in the future.
